Whether you are referring to lightening up a mood or a space in your home, light always feels good to the soul. I mean, who doesn't want to feel in a light, happy mood? I know when I feel in a darker mood or am having a bad day, I feel like crawling under the covers in yes, a dark room.
I believe we should all try to surround ourselves with light. Natural light, bright spaces, even bright, light-hearted people. They do the body (and mind) good. Who likes dark rooms (unless it's cozy--that's different), gray skies, or dark-hearted people? Ick.
Even though I pretty much already knew my style and tastes, I've noticed that I have been pinning images on my boards on Pinterest of mostly all bright, sunny spaces. Here are a few of my favorites:

Not only do I like white, sunny kitchens, I've also found some cozy spots that create a sense of peace just by looking at them:

So, you see, I like bright spaces. The white, the light, the colorful. Recently my hubby and I painted our kitchen a vanilla color and got rid of the medium chocolate brown color that it was painted. I loved my chocolate brown walls, but it felt cave-like in our kitchen. Our first floor seriously lacks natural light and when people come over they literally look for the light switch, and the lights are already on! So by painting our kitchen the lighter color, it made it so much better. Pictures of our switch will be coming soon!
