Day 21: {Organized} Gift Wrap

Just joining in?  Read the entire series {HERE}.

Whew!  I can't believe it is October 21!  Where has October gone?  I have been working on those white cabinets as much as I can.  I never realized how useful those could be!  Remember my master bedroom closet that I embarrassingly showed you that used to contain my craft supplies?

See the orange drawered organizer?  That used to hold my acrylic paints, adhesives, and other crafty stuff.  I brought it down to the basement to see if now that it was empty of craft supplies it could hold some of my gift wrapping supplies.  Guess what?  It fit perfectly in one of the other tall white cabinets down there!

At the top of the this tall cabinet are all of our photo albums.  I'm not quite done with those yet.

I made labels for each drawer.

I added fun contact paper to the back of this cabinet.  It added so much color and prettiness!  It took me about 10 minutes to line the back of the cabinet--I am going to see what else in my house I can put (removable) contact paper on!  I love that stuff!  I found mine at Marshall's recently-two rolls for $6.99!  I wish I would have picked up other prints.   The tall metal container holding the rolls of gift wrap was from my daugher's room.  She actually has two of these and we have never used both.   I don't think she has realized one is gone.  :)

I love how each drawer is labeled and I can find things so easily.  All of this stuff used to be in a shallow plastic container under my bed!  I am thrilled that it is so easily accessible and looks so much better now

How does organizing my gift wrap go along with my Less Stressed Nest series?  I'll tell you how.  Organization lessens stress and saves time allowing me to enjoy my family and other things more.  Pretty, organized spaces calm and relax me and make me happy.

What have you organized lately?  What's on the list?

Progress in Great Room=Fall-ish Pillows

We have lots still going on here at our house lately...projects that are 80% done, new projects waiting to be started, all the while I'm back at school and the 3 youngest are all in sports.  That is why it is taking us so long to get the other 20% of the projects done.  My hubby also had 2,000 pavers/bricks delivered yesterday.  Hmmm.  Says he's going to build a (huge) patio out back by our little pond he created.  Not sure when that is going to happen, but will be sure to fill you in along the way...

Meanwhile, I recently purchased some amazing fabric at my local Jo Ann's.  Oh how I love fabric.  Print and patterns make me a happy girl.  Since I am super picky when it comes to fabric, I was thrilled to find a new line made by Waverly that is fresh, colorful, and goes with our more rustic great room.  It's a little 70's if you ask me, but I'm okay with that.  I think it looks like the epitome of a fall palette.  Here are my purchases still on the bolts:

I love all three prints, but particularly the blue and the colorful chevron-looking one.   I am a novice sewer, but managed to use pillow forms to create a pile this pile of happiness:

I am loving these prints together!  They go wonderfully with our dark brown furniture and new floors and they are perfect colors for fall!

The only problem with having all of these pillows is our furry friend, Cole, will think he has the right to  sneak one off and out the doggy door for his personal chew toy.  I'm still working on how to prevent that.  Remember my {Pillow Trick} post this summer?   That has worked like a charm, but I tied those pillows with ribbon and there is no way to do that to these new pillows.

I have lots more to show you in our great room this month that we have been working on including our finished floors and trim, the bookcases back up, and some fall decorating.  Have a great weekend!

I {Heart} Green

Hope you had a great weekend!  We have lots of projects going on around here, and I can't wait to post about them all soon.  Nothing is done enough to share, but our whole first floor has changed and I have been making some cute burlap pumpkins for Fall that I am so excited to share soon!

I was noticing the other day how many of the rooms in my house (except the kids' rooms) have green in them.  Lime green, forest green, apple green, lots of green!  It is such a pretty color and I'm not sure that there is a hue I don't love!  I took some pics of spots on our first floor (great room, kitchen, eating area) where I spied green.

These cute storage containers from Target hold my cameras and other little items in our pantry. {Click HERE to see how we completely transformed that area}

Here are my fave curtains from World Market.  LOVE this color palette.  See how I made curtain valances from napkins of this same print {HERE}.

I put up some melamine plates I got at Target in the Spring.  The patterns make me happy. AND of course, I love the colors!

A few years ago I bought these, uh, not sure what they are, but they are GREEN and I like them.  :)  They reside on our bookcases (yes, we put them back up!! There will be a post on that reveal soon.....)

Also in our bookcases is one of my favorite pitchers.  I posted about this beauty in the spring when it housed some gorgeous tulips.  You can read about that post {HERE}.

And lastly, some pics from our mantle.  I posted about the meaningful piece of art that my husband's aunt painted {HERE}.  Notice how there  is so much green up there?  Love it.

Another thing I love about the color green and using it in the home is that is plays well during every season.  It can be pretty in the spring and summer with about any other color and looks amazing in the fall with oranges, brown, and golds, and of course shines at the holidays with it's partner, red, and about any other new favorite holiday color.   So what about you?  Do you love green in your home as much as I do?

Color Splash

Who loves color?  Me! Me!  Certain colors make my heart go pitter-patter.  They make me smile and can brighten my mood.  Recently I was in our local grocery store getting a few necessities and stopped in my tracks when I saw this pitcher.  WHOA.  Love this color!  It was part of a display that had many beautiful plates and dishes on it,  so great that I could have bought them all.  Now our grocery store is called a "Marketplace" so they do have some nice home goods, but this tops anything I've seen there!    I am a total sucker for pitchers and especially ones that look like old pottery.  Then, while happily strolling my pitcher around in the cart,  (what did I come in for again?) I whizzed by the floral department and saw these amazing orange-colored tulips.  I knew they were the perfect lucky flowers to go in my new pitcher.  SCORE!  I couldn't wait to go home and put the two together.   Here is the happy little scene on my kitchen table:

Sorry about cutting off the top of the tulip--they wouldn't hold still while being photographed.

Here they are posing at another angle.  Like my curtains in the background?  They are faves of mine from World Market--love that store!  I have that print in some other places in my house that I will soon show you.  One more view of these beauties:

Yes, I purposely bought the colors because I knew they matched my curtains.  You know you've done it too.  :)
