Currently {In Love With My New Floors}

If you didn't read my last post, you really must check it out so you can appreciate this one.  My hubby worked tirelessly for three days (and my step-daughter, Kaitlyn did lots too--bless her heart!)  putting our new floors down in our entire first floor.  They look beautiful and I am super-psyched about them!  The whole appearance now looks clean and consistent and I am loving the darker floor color!

(Apparently our dog, Cole, likes to be in pictures.  Every time I tried to move to get him out of the picture, he'd move too, thus getting his little self in there.  He is quite lost without his beloved carpet to lay on in the dining room.)

What do you think???  Aren't they pretty?  Here is a close-up of how they have that worn, rustic look to them:

We love that.  Of course, there is still tons to do...If you noticed, there are still no baseboards and transitional pieces need to be put in where the rooms meet...

The garage (although MUCH, MUCH better!)  still has junk in it.....

 There are blank walls and serious furniture misplacement.  We still have a lot of thinking to do on how   we want our rooms (great room and dining room) to function.  There is also a TON of stuff sitting around my house to be put away.

And if that wasn't enough, while hubby was working on the floors on parts that there wasn't any task I could do to help, I was upstairs in our master bathroom making another mess  organizing.

 I thought I could use more things to put away and do.  HA.  Please excuse my mess.

Too much personal stuff?  Sorry.  I have some ideas for this collection...stay tuned for how I am going to organize our bathroom storage and linen closet into functional heaven.  I am so over how it is right now!

How about you?  Anyone have a huge home project going on right now that is making them excited but also making them want to organize other parts of their house?  This floor thing has thrown me into organizational/nesting mode.  Right before I go back to school.  Why didn't I do this in June again?

  1. I'll be curious to know how your floors hold up with a doggy- we have Allure floors in our house and they are scratched all over the place from our dogs. We just have the regular Allure, not the Ultra, so hopefully yours will hold up better- I'd love to read a follow up post in a few months!! :)

  2. Loving your new flooring! It gives a very nice, uniform look. Now you can buy lots of rugs. I've done well with that at Tuesday Morning and Kohl's. Can't wait to see the Big Reveal and still thinking about your 18 feet of wall space to fill..

  3. OMG!! Your new floors look amazing! I can't wait to see how you decorate the long wall in the family room. It looks so different without the bookcase - I love it!

    1. We haven't decided whether to paint new baseboards a creamy white or if we will stain them to match the floor. We have to go out and buy those this weekend. Thanks for your comment!

  5. I love your new floors! I would love to do the same - our main living areas are tiled and I'm not a fan. Maybe one day...

  7. Hi there, Nicky! As a matter of fact, my parents decided last April to have new flooring installed in their vacation house. I volunteered to do it for them. I took into consideration their preferences regarding how they would want their house to look like. I chose flooring that looked pretty close to what you used - a rustic and very homey look. They loved it so much that they asked me to do their veranda and garden patio, as well.
